About me
My experience with horses over the past 15 years has been predominantly outside the structured training methods of riding schools and clubs. I believe this has helped me find my own understanding with the inner horse, an understanding that now helps me work with the horse's mind to find the root of his problems. Having achieved the Monty Roberts Preliminary Certificate of Horsemanship, I am able to apply this education to my basic beliefs of horses to work towards helping a horse through the issues that cause unwanted behaviour.
The basic philosophy of my work is that all actions are for a reason and it is up to us to find that reason. Only then can we attempt to alter the horse's motivation and thus his reactions. I also believe that force is never the best way to achieve the best results. A horse who wants to please will always try harder than one who is forced.
I then work with the owner towards finding a sustainable future relationship between horse and human that will enable each to bring out the best in the other. The owner is the key to every long term solution. I am only there to facilitate that solution.
Problems that can be addressed include leading issues, loading, clipping and other similar problems faced by horse owners the world over. I wish I could cover the world over but sadly have to limit myself to Essex and Suffolk. For examples of my work, please look at some of my case studies.
I also teach groundwork skills, such as correct leading, longlining and despooking, to horse owners of all ages who may not currently have any issues with their horses but who simply wish for a better relationship with them. To help encourage good relationships from an early age, I helped set up and run IH Kids, the Intelligent Horsemanship website, membership and rosette scheme for children.
